In January 2019 I assisted with a recording session in the studio at Central School Of Speech And Drama, recording the song "Best Part"

 

We decided to record the drums first so the rest of the group could follow with the Bass Guitar, Piano, then Vocalists.

We then went and produced our own mixes of the track. 

​

When mixing this, I took inspiration from a performance of "Cast No Shadow" by Oasis.

​

I was listening to the second night at Maine Road in 1996, and I thought the drums were very well mixed in itself, as well as the whole band.

 

I really like that the sound of the snare has a punch to it at the low end, and sounds really crisp at the high end.

 

So when creating my mix of "Best Part" I wanted to follow the same principle of being able to clearly hear the whole band.
